Job description
IT SERVICE DESK TECHNICIAN-1st/2nd LineJob reference: BWSUP Location: Leeds- West Yorkshire Salary: £18,000
IT Service Desk Technician/1st Line Support/2nd Line Support/IT Helpdesk/Windows/Active Directory
Candidates should have at least 2 years experience of working on a Service Desk, including direct experience in a 1st line and 2nd line support role. Any experience of working within an IT Support team within a Law firm would be beneficial.
Service Desk
Taking and recording calls on the IT Helpdesk System.
Investigate, monitor and resolve any calls assigned to you.
Liasing with users, IT Support personnel and external suppliers to resolve fault calls.
Keeping the Service Desk application and colleagues updated with the status of calls.
Installing software where appropriate.
Implementation & Rollouts
Administer Active Directory and Group Policies to provide centralised administration functions for the benefit of all users.
Manage new and ongoing IT projects assigned to the team (these will be mainly associated with desktop PC's and the network eg the rollout of applications, desktop migration, security, upgrades etc).
Maintenance and Administration
Take part in the rota to change backup tapes on a daily basis.
Manage and keep antivirus and other desktop security systems up to date.
Administer and manage all remote users of the network
Work with the System Administrators in configuring secure Internet connections.
Candidates should have at least 2 years experience of working on a Service Desk, including direct experience in a 1st line and 2nd line support role.
The candidate will have the skills to successfully implement a Microsoft product or technology as part of a business solution in an organisation. They should be familiar with versions of Windows and Windows Applications. The candidate will probably have been involved in a number of desktop upgrades and/or migrations, and is likely to have experience in deploying Group Policies and Active Directory.
Good knowledge of the following areas are also essential:
Software:
Ability to install and remove additional software onto computers.
Anti Virus Products:
Knowledge of current software and the effects that viruses may have. They must be able to virus check software and computers with a knowledge of what to look for.
Printers:
Ability to troubleshoot problems and install on both client PC's and Servers.
Skills
Good team skills are required, particularly in communicating and supporting other team members. The candidate will have a flair for using their technical skills to resolve problems. Flexibility and a drive to complete projects on time are important aspects of this role.
The candidate requires good communication skills and a good telephone manner. They must be able to communicate with people at all levels and technical ability.
This role is commutable from Bradford Leeds, York, Huddersfield, Halifax, Wakefield, Castleford, Harrogate and surrounding areas.
